David Niall Wilson has opened Macabre Ink Digital Publishing. The site will function as a market for short fiction, novels, collections, and anthologies. The main focus of the site is to give a second life to stories that have already been published and are now just sitting on hard drives wasting space. Stories can be downloaded for $1.00 each in PDF, MOBI, KINDLE, and EPUB formats. If a reader buys 12 or more stories, or spends $13.00 or more on downloads, there is a Reader’s Choice discount. The site will be expanding to include a number of new authors in the near future. Updates on what’s available at http://www.macabreink.com/macabreinkpublishing--the store is at http://www.macabreink.store. Be sure to check the “About” and “Guidelines” pages.

Linda Dunn’s short story, “The Gifting of Nyla’s Son,” is now available in the paperback anthology, Sky Whales and Other Wonders, published by Norilana Press.

Rhonda Eudaly has started the year with a free, downloadable short story on her website. She is looking forward to AggieCon and ConDFW in early February - along with the upcoming release of The Four Redheads of the Apocalypse: Apocalypse Now!

James S. Dorr’s short story “In the Octopus’s Garden” (originally published in 69 Flavors of Paranoia, March-April 1999) has just come out as a reprint in The Book of Tentacles from Sam’s Dot, while another reprint “Pets” (originally in The Darker Side: Generations of Horror, Roc, 2002) is scheduled for the Australian electronic anthology The Tangled Bank.   In poetry, Dorr starts the new year with original work forthcoming in Star*Line, Illumen, Tales of the Talisman, Niteblade, and Paper Crow.

Robin Wayne Bailey’s graphic novella, “Death Votes Twice” will launch the first two issues of a new magazine from Moonstone Books called, The Spider: Judgement Knight.  Based upon the original pulp character, The Spider, from Street & Smith Publications, Robin’s story takes place against the background of the 1936 elections.  Cover and illustrations by the amazing Courtney Stephens.  The first issue is due in January.

Robin, awarded the title, “the King of Zombie Poetry” by none other than Selina herself, will have a collection of zombie verse called Zombies In Oz And Other Undead Musings from Yard Dog Press.   Release date is June, but a launch party will be held at ConQuesT in Kansas City on Memorial Day weekend.

Laura J. Underwood currently has several stories out, including “That Time of the Month” in Esther Friesner’s Strip Mauled from Baen Books, “A Quiet Neighborhood” in The Book Of Tentacles from Sam’s Dot Publishing and “Death and Need” in Mystic Signals #4.   Future stories include “Bella and the Flying Lugosi” in the forthcoming Fangs For The Mammaries edited by Esther Friesner and “Willow Walks” in a future issue of a Sam’s Dot Publishing magazine.  At the moment, she is working on editing her unpublished novel Thunder Hammer set in a time before the Great Cataclysm changed the world of Ard-Taebh and writing a new novel Titled To The Flame, based on her novelette “The Gift” from Low Port edited by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller and her novella The King’s Wind previously published by Carnifex Press, also set in her world of Ard-Taebh.  In fact, Yard Dog Press has published several titles set in this world, including Ard Magister, Chronicles of the Last War, Shadow Lord and Bogie Woods and Other Tales of Conor Manahan.  So y’all need to go and BUY HER BOOKS and Make Selina Happy!!! J

Dave Creek is still promoting his 2009 Yard Dog release, A Glimpse of Splendor and Other Stories. He’s also sold two more stories, “Midwife Crisis” and “Art for Splendor’s Sake,” to Analog. You can catch Dave this year at Millennicon in Cincinnati in March, ConGlomeration in his hometown of Louisville in April, and Context in Columbus, OH in August.

Kathy Turski has a new chapbook coming out from Yard Dog Press called “It’s the Great Bumpkin Cletus Brown,” which includes scary things like vampires, booger aliens, Bigfoot, and beer. Please don’t read it in the dark.

Kathy’s humor essay, “Menopause Barbie,” got Finalist in Humorpress.com’s October/November contest.  Her two essays, “Confessions of a Husband Beater,” and “Man For All Seasons, Woman of All Fashions” received Semi-Finalist and Honorable Mention respectively in their August/September contest.

Beverly Hale will be attending ConDFW in February.

Mark Tiedemann says, “Starting off on a positive step, I’ve made a change on the site.  Not much of a one, but it could lead to something special.

“The Art page at www.marktiedemann.com has been static for some time now.  Technical issues among other things.  But I decided to move the art to a site that can give me a little better control and offer the possibility of expanding this part of my creative life.  Take the plunge, go for it, I say, put your stuff out there where people can see it.

“So over the weekend, with a bit of help from my webmaster, I changed the Art link to a hosting site that offers a nicer look and some bells and whistles.  You can go to my main page and click on Art or just go to http://markimages.zenfolio.com/.

“If I get enough visitors, comments, hits, etc that it seems worthwhile, I can upgrade this site to allow people to purchase an original Mark W. Tiedemann image.  Who knows, some of you might.  But I want to see what kind of interest can be generated first.

“Meantime, I can add more images to this page much more easily than with the original and the display is better.  I’m fairly pleased with the look.

“So if you think it’s worth a look, please spread the word.  I think (he admits modestly) I’ve done some decent photography in my time and I’ve been wanting to showcase it to more advantage.  This might be the solution.

“Thank you and enjoy the show.”
